Detroit Electric has revealed its intention to release an all-electric sedan and an electric SUV in the years to come.
while talking with Dutch publication rb.no company CEO Albert Lam said Detroit Electric plans a massive expansion, but says that the company does not follow what Tesla has already done.
the similarities between the two are obvious. First model of Tesla was a small, electric convertible sports car based around the Lotus Elise and SP:01 of Detroit Electric is also a little electric sports car based on a Lotus Elise.
lam explains that by 2019, the company will release a (Model S) all-electric luxury sedan which will then lead to an electric SUV with the same platform (a model of the X). Above all, the Executive revealed that these two models will not have Lotus foundations and instead be developed in-house by Detroit Electric.
when the electric sedan and SUV hits the market, the company hopes to sell between 50,000 and 60 000 vehicles per year.
