It's time to say goodbye to Compass dated Jeep and Patriot brothers and say hello to replace the compact brand for both models, the 2017 Compass that slots between Renegade and Cherokee, being closer to the size of it.

As we have already seen a lot of unofficial photos of the new compass on the web in recent weeks, Jeep SUV officially unveiled today to mark the start of production in Jeep assembly plant CAF in Goiana, Brazil.

The more we look, the more it reminds us of a Grand Cherokee compact, which makes kind of sense, given the Renegade more character and Cherokee in the current range of Jeep, which might not be to the taste of everyone.

We'll see Compass 2017 for the first time at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, before it goes on sale in North America in the first quarter of next year.

Jeep said the new Compass will be a "truly global compact SUV" will be produced with "17 options of fuel-efficient engines for consumers in over 100 countries around the world," without disclosing specific details. The North American model will be built in Mexico.

Based on an extended version of the platform of the Renegade, the new Compass is supposed to be offered with 2.4-liter Tigershark Chrysler and / or a newer 2.0-liter turbocharged four paired with an automatic transmission with nine speeds in the United States and Canada, but we will know more after its world premiere in Los Angeles.
