GM brands to sort LT5 engine C7 ZR1 Before Launch , 
General Motors has refiled a trademark application with the US Patent and trademark office for the LT5 name.
The automaker originally filed for the LT5 brand in April 2013 and in the latter application, it has been marked as the "engines for automobiles, sport utility vehicles, trucks and vans" reports GM Authority .
While GM has not yet revealed any official information on the engine, it is widely expected to power the C7-generation Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 imminent. Like the 6.2-liter V8 supercharged Z06, Cadillac CTS and Camaro ZL1 is thought to be close to its maximum 650 horsepower, GM is developing the new LT5 V8 and ditch overeating for two turbochargers .
All in all, this new engine should provide more than 700 hp and therefore require a selection changes cooling and visual when installed in the ZR1. More importantly, additional air intakes front fascia will be available on the ZR1.
If the reports prove accurate, we can expect to see the debut C7 Corvette ZR1 at a major auto show in 2017 before arriving on the market as a 2018 model
