Mercedes-Benz has just thrown its plug-in hybrid model strategy, which includes the presentation of 10 new cars with this technology by 2017, or one every four months on average.
Under the new nomenclature of the company, an "e" replaces the word "PLUG-IN HYBRID" for these models, including on currently available S500 Plug-in Hybrid that combines a 328hp 3.0-liter turbo V6 with 107hp electric motor for a total output of 436hp and a system manufacturer estimated fuel consumption of 3 l / 100 km (78.4 mpg US / 94.2 mpg UK) and CO2 emissions of 69 g / km.
This month, Mercedes will launch the C350e who gets a 208hp (211PS) 2.0-liter four cylinder petrol engine with a 60kW electric producing a combined 275hp (279PS) to a 0 100 km / h (62 mph time) 5.9 seconds with an average fuel consumption of 2.1 l / 100km (112 mpg US or 134.5 UK) mpg with CO2 emissions of 48 g / km . Available in both forms of sedan and station wagon, the C350e can run on pure battery for about 31 km, or almost 20 miles.
Mercedes said his next model PHEV will be based on the next GLE which is fame, the facelifted version of the M-Class current SUV, while hinting at the possibility of producing the Geneva Motor Show Concept V-ision e study that used a more powerful iteration of the powertrain of the C350e on body minivan V-Class.
Although no other candidates for the "e" moniker was officially announced today, next E-Class and the GLK compact SUV GLC-replacement are prime candidates.
