a few weeks after the start of the Concept Auris at the Salon Paris Toyota announced the Japanese launch of the Auris production model. While its European release is scheduled for the s pring of 2007, there is no word yet released for the US version.
Despite the dramatic chan Ges as the name suggests its predecessor Corolla, I, like most people who saw the production ready Auris Concept Paris fail to see w hat the big fuss is all about. The Auris does not bring anything new to the trap of class C-segment in terms of design, engineering or technology, it seems more of a marketing ploy to convince young people to take a look at the car. Press it does not reveal anything important, except for the fact that the Japanese version will be offered with two engines, the 1.5 liter VVT-i and 1.8-liter Dual VVT-i (Dual Intelligent variable Valve timing). The 1.8 can be equipped with the CVT-i (Super Continuously Variable Transmission intelligent), a seven-speed transmission with Sequential Sport Super Shiftmatic.
like most cars in Japan all Auris models will be offered in Japan as either 2WD or 4WD. For a sportier look, Toyota has already released some TRD kits and more sporting versions as Modellista.
European version Range & Start Date: In Europe, the Auris will be available in 3 and 5 door hatchback body type with a choice of two petrol engines, a 1.4 VVT-i and 1.6 Dual VVT-i and three diesel engines, 1.4 D-4D 2.0 D-4D and 2.2 D-4D Clean Power . The new Auris will be unveiled in Europe at the Bologna Motor Show December 5, 2006, and will be sold through Europe in spring 2007.
