Chrysler Group has officially revealed the refreshed for the 2011 model year Jeep Compass crossover, which goes on sale in the States States in the coming weeks. Similar to its sister model, the Patriot 2011, which resembles a small Liberty / Cherokee, Compass 2011 bears a strong resemblance to the flagship Jeep, the new Grand Cherokee.

Those seeking more power can opt for the 2.4-liter unit that produces 172 horsepower and 165 lb-ft of torque. Again, buyers can choose between the CVT and the gear lever 5-speed. Curiously, Jeep claims the larger displacement unit returns the exact same mileage as the 2.0-liter model.
The new Compass is available in three configurations for the drivetrain, including the standard model driving front wheels, the Drive I Liberty with full-time system with four active wheel drive with lock mode and the Freedom drive II off-road system that comes with a four-wheel drive and a second variable transaxle generation continuously with low range gearing (CVT2L).
Finally, the newcomer Jeep also has a retuned suspension for 2011, with spring and damping rates, added rebound springs, and an increased diameter of the rear stabilizer bar.
The new Compass is built at the Belvidere Assembly Plant in Belvidere Chrysler Group, Illinois, with the first examples set to arrive in Jeep dealerships in December 2010.
