our spies came across this prototype of compact size outside the facility of R & D of Hyundai Motor Europe in Russelsheim, in Germany, and they think it is a tester for the next i30 or as we know in North America, the Elantra GT.
Hyundai launched the slightly facelifted i30 and the Elantra GT at the beginning of the year, but the compact hatch is on sale since early 2012, if the Koreans keep their usual five years long life cycle, so a replacement expected to be unveiled late next year before to be released in 2017.
at first glance, the tester seems more prudent than the current i30, but we cannot be sure without seeing what lies behind the black veil. Hatch seems to adopt the same clean (er) style lines featured on the luxury sedan of Genesis and the new Elantra with a belt pinched and a low initial design, while the party are the wings before carved.
the twisted platform should be shared with the latest Elantra sedan, while the engine options will include the last units of Hyundai, with Europe's turbocharged gasoline to make a choice of engines diesel as well.
