America, it's your all-new VW Golf and Golf GTI 2015!

the seventh generation of Volkswagen Golf and its performance GTI version make their North American debut to New York International Auto Show today. Located to hit dealers early next year as a model 2015 Americans, the new Golf will be available with three engines, just like the current model of sixth generation sold in the United States
as you have probably already noticed, the US-spec Golf looks like its European version, inside and outside, so we will focus on the technical aspects in this article.
the big news is that model entry of the Golf of 2015 will be powered by a turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder instead of the five-cylinder 2.5-litre unit. With 170 BHP and 184 lb - ft (250 Nm) of torque, this new engine made in Silao, Mexico, offer the same power as the starting unit and 7 more lb - ft (9.5 Nm) of torque, delivered at low revs. Coupled with a manual or automatic transmission, its biggest advantage is supposed to be fuel economy, although VW did not talk about figures.
the next model in the range of Golf 2015 will be TDI Clean Diesel, a unit of four-cylinder common-rail 2.0-liter direct injection diesel-powered. Rated at 150 HP (10 HP more than the outgoing model) and 236 lb - ft (320 Nm) of torque, the clean TDI Diesel new shares only the spacing of bore with the previous engine, with significant changes made to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. Here again, no fuel economy figures have been provided for this engine, but VW said the new TDI model will have a standard six-speed manual transmission and a dual-clutch DSG optional transmission.
Finally, the high-end GTI model will be powered by an improved version of the EA888 engine 2.0 litre turbocharged TSI, also made in the Mexico and should be about 210 HP and 258 lb - ft (350 Nm) of torque (not yet available in final figures). A six-speed manual gearbox will be offered standard with a DSG automatic transmission available as an option. The European Performance Pack should be offered to the United States during the lifecycle of the GTI.
all versions of the new Golf have the XDS electronic differential locking which improves handling and traction. The 2015 VW Golf for North America will be built in the German car manufacturer the plant of the Mexico Puebla.
